The Senate passed controversial cybersecurity bill ‘Cisa’, 74 to 21…

Next, it goes to a conference committee between the House and Senate. National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower Edward Snowden warned that Cisa should be scrapped because, it will allow the government to collect sensitive personal data unchecked.

Apple is against it and, a group of university professors specializing in tech law, many from the Princeton Center for Information Technology Policy, sent an open letter to the Senate, urging them not to pass the bill. The bill, they wrote, “would fatally undermine the Freedom of Information Act (Foia)”. Read More About It Here!

URGENT UPDATE: CISA is on the Senate floor for the final vote, take action now…

From our Friends at Fight for the Future:

URGENT UPDATE: CISA is on the Senate floor for the final vote, take action now!

Dear FFTF member,

This is the week. Congress is about to create a seismic rupture in the Internet.

CISA is coming up for final vote sometime today or tomorrow. If it passes, we’ll be more vulnerable to hacks as companies shift responsibility for preventing them away to the government. Companies will continue to leave the door open for thieves to get your information, including your bank information and Social Security number. On top of that, all your data will be automatically shared with 7 government agencies, including the NSA and local police.

They’re trying to ignore that millions of people have already called on Congress to stop CISA. And, that they have no business passing it.

This week, we have to show them again: Click here to tell Congress to vote NO on CISA now.

The other side wants us to get sick of taking action. They want to wear us down until we give up. We can’t give up at this final juncture. The Intelligence Committee, full of the Congresspeople who take the most money from the Defense Industry, is hell bent on passing a “cybersecurity” bill in some form. They don’t care what it does or says, even if it means creating more vulnerabilities across the Internet and breaking it.

This is corruption. The Defense industry cares about profit as much as the next industry. But, their pockets are very, very deep. They’ve bought out politicians to do their bidding. That’s why it’s convenient that Congress doesn’t understand the Internet and doesn’t know how to address cyber hacks.

Instead of making sure companies use good security, Congress is convinced they should install a massive surveillance law to watch for hacks. Even security experts have roundly condemned the bill for its ineffectiveness, but Congress is so corrupted they don’t care or don’t understand that it won’t work.

That’s why they need to hear how inept they are, or they’ll never stop. If thousands of you rally and tell them to stop their corrupt bill CISA now, we can stop it and set a precedent for the future. Take action now.

Just a few month ago, things were looking really grim. It seemed almost certain that CISA would pass, but since then we’ve unleashed a huge can of whoopass and our campaigns have led to nearly every major tech company in the U.S. speaking out to oppose this bill. Trade groups that represent Google, Facebook, Amazon, Sprint have come out against CISA. Twitter, Yelp, Wikipedia came out opposed too, thanks to you and all the grassroots pressure.

And, we’re organizing the Internet Defense League and thousands of sites to take action this week to stop the bill. If you have a website, click here to join in! (Or join with your twitter here.)

We’ve done all this work because surveillance is the defining issue in our digital age.

We’re in a moment when our data and privacy have become currency. Governments and corporations are fighting over what to do with it, how to pass laws that let them reap profit and power off of it, even when it’s abusive, criminal, or unconstitutional.

We have to make the line in the sand clear. Our data must be protected and can’t be used against us.

That’s what we’re demanding by stopping CISA, and that’s what we have to keep fighting for.

Thanks for all you do,

Tiff, Jeff, Evan, Donny, Charlie, and the rest of the team at Fight for the Future

Edward Snowden is Willing to Come Home and Face the Music but; “Don’t Call Me a Traitor”…

BloodyWakeUpSmall

“I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions, but I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant… My sole motive is to inform the public as to that which is done in their name and that which is done against them.”  Edward Snowdan

Mr. Snowden received 2 nominations for the Nobel Peace Prize on January 29, 2014 in NORWAY!

Our American HERO, Edward Snowden, who was accused of compromising U.S. security; admitted that he wants to come back home to the USA. But he has one demand: “Don’t call me a traitor.”  Earlier this year, former U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder said that a plea deal with Snowden was a possibility.

According to an interview with the BBC’s ‘Parorama’ program, which aired Monday, Mr. Snowden; the former National Security Agency contractor who leaked documents about top secret mass surveillance programs proclaimed that he: “… would be willing to reach a plea bargain with U.S. authorities.”

He stated that he has offered to” return to the United States and face prison for leaking details of National Security Agency programs to intercept electronic communications data on a vast scale.” However, he is still waiting for a formal plea-deal offer.

Ironically, his critics say that his disclosures harmed the ability of the United States and its allies to fight terrorism. In fact, FBI deputy director Mark Giuliano told the BBC that Snowden was a traitor. As far as I am concerned, America is being governed by a bunch of Traitors, including Many in Congress and our so called President Barack Hussein Obama II (Whose real name is Barry Soetoro?)

“The question is, if I was a traitor, who did I betray?” Snowden asked. “I gave all of my information to American journalists and free society generally.”

“I regret I didn’t come forward sooner, because the longer you wait with programs like this, the more deeply entrenched they become,” “I have paid a price but I feel comfortable with the decisions I’ve made,” he added. “If I’m gone tomorrow, I’m happy with what I had. I feel blessed.”

The former NSA contractor fled to Moscow two years ago after revealing information about the previously secret eavesdropping powers. He faces U.S. charges that could land him in prison for up to 30 years, including Espionage and theft of government property, (secret classified data of its own citizens). His revelations about the NSA, Britain’s GCHQ and other intelligence agencies set off an “international debate about spies’ powers to monitor personal communications,”  National Security? Bill of Rights —Privacy.  Good Luck and GOD Bless—You, Edward Snowden!

“But you must remember, my fellow-citizens, that eternal vigilance by the people is the price of liberty, and that you must pay the price if you wish to secure the blessing. It behooves you, therefore, to be watchful in your States as well as the Federal Government.” — Andrew Jackson, Farewell Address, March 4, 1837

Ed Snowden – HERO

“The most pathetic person in the world is someone who has sight, but has no vision.”  Helen Keller

Edward Snowden has both insight and vision and a Set of BALLS! He is an American HERO, Champion of our Civil Liberties and HOPE for America. Mr. Snowden is the former CIA employee who was privy to Secret No-No’s and blew the whistle on the NSA and leaked its Secret Surveillance without probable cause on its citizens. He told the TRUTH – and exposed government wrongdoing! He proclaimed:

“I understand that I will be made to suffer for my actions, but I will be satisfied if the federation of secret law, unequal pardon and irresistible executive powers that rule the world that I love are revealed even for an instant… My sole motive is to inform the public as to that which is done in their name and that which is done against them.”

Mr. Snowden walked away from a near$200,000 salary and “paradise” job in Hawaii to “do the right thing.”  “I don’t see myself as a hero, because what I’m doing is self-interested. I don’t want to live in a world where there’s no privacy, and therefore no room for intellectual exploration and creativity.  I’m willing to sacrifice [my income and career success] because I can’t in good conscience allow the U.S. government to destroy privacy, Internet freedom and basic liberties for people around the world with this massive surveillance machine they’re secretly building.”

Unfortunately, Mr. Snowden is in hiding and the US government is looking for him; ready to charge him with Espionage and theft of government property (secret classified data of its own citizens). In the Name of National Security, Ed Snowden is being charged with a crime for reporting a crime (NSA’s violation of the constitutional rights of all Americans) and to make an example out of him for the sole purpose of silencing dissent! Unfortunately, when a whistle-blower exposes government waste, fraud corruption and criminal conduct; they are then deemed as “enemies” and targeted for prosecution because the US Government fears the “Truth” coming out and going public.

According to Daniel Ellsberg, the man who leaked the Pentagon Papers in 1971, Edward Snowden is Saving Us from the United Stasi of America”He also states that:In my estimation, there has not been in American history a more important leak than Edward Snowden’s release of NSA material – and that definitely includes the Pentagon Papers 40 years ago. Snowden’s whistleblowing gives us the possibility to roll back a key part of what has amounted to an “executive coup” against the US constitution.”

On his website at: http://www.ellsberg.net/, Mr. Ellsberg stated that:

“Since 9/11, there has been, at first secretly but increasingly openly, a revocation of the bill of rights for which this country fought over 200 years ago. In particular, the fourth and fifth amendments of the US constitution, which safeguard citizens from unwarranted intrusion by the government into their private lives, have been virtually suspended.”

And,  in an interview on August 21, 2013, Ellsberg told the Huffington Post Live that the United States is on the verge of becoming a police state as evidenced by the National Security Agency’s data collection programs and the treatment of secret document leakers Edward Snowden and Bradley Manning.

“When people understand that their every conversation of every kind on phones, email, chat logs whatever, is being recorded and can be retrieved, that will certainly curtail people’s freedom of speech over any digital means,” Ellsberg continued in an interview carried on Huffington Post Live.

“It gives the government blackmail capability over the population at large . . . With the digital stuff alone, we have a surveillance capability that outmatches any police state in the history of humanity.”

“We have not only the capability of a police state, but certain beginnings of it right now,” he continued. He also stated that: “I absolutely agree with Edward Snowden. It’s worth a person’s life, prospect of assassination, or life in prison or life in exile — it’s worth that to try to restore our liberties and make this a democratic country.”
